Kulbir Pasricha of the Kent police
Kulbir Pasricha, a crime support officer with Kent Police, won the award for driving forward equality in the workplace over and above her full-time role and personal caring commitments. In her own time and initially using her own resources, she began in 2004 to design and run diversity workshops to promote better cultural understanding among her colleagues.
In the early days she met some resistance, but by the time of this award, after 50 workshops, she has won the hearts and minds of her colleagues and managers. So far nearly 300 people have attended her workshops, from the Kent police, the police authority and the Crown Prosecution Service
The Trust notes with pleasure that, since this presentation, Kulbir has been appointed to the post of Area Diversity Manager, North Kent Policing Area.

Special award for Lord Lester
Lord Lester can be seen as the architect of anti-discrimination legislation in this country. As special adviser to the Home Secretary, Roy Jenkins, between 1974 and 1976, he worked on the Sex Discrimination Act and the Race Relations Act. More recently, with Bob Hepple, he drafted and argued for a Single Equality Bill.
In 1984 he co-authored with David Wainwright a guide to the equal pay for work of equal value regulations.
